Youth Homeless Services

PAAL will partner with existing programs to provides the most vulnerable youth with connection to basic services including nourishing meals, showers, and basic hygiene amenities. Laundry facilities, telephone, computer and internet connection and linkage to a host of additional supportive services. Such such as referral and crisis intervention services. Youth seeking services have immediate access to basic needs and a warm, dry safe shelter off the streets.

Yellow Brick Road Portland

 

Every night of the year highly trained Yellow Brick Road community volunteer teams and professional staff walk the streets of downtown Portland making over 2,000 contacts monthly with homeless youth, building trust, helping meet their immediate needs and linking youth with services to help them get off the streets. A one-day a week stationary outreach location provides youth with connection to basic services including shower and laundry facilities, telephone and internet connection and linkage to a host of additional supportive services. Volunteers must be over 18 and are asked to make a six month commitment.

Access Center

 

The single point-of-entry for youth ages 16 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County and seeking services through Portland’s Homeless Youth Continuum, the Access Center engages with youth every day of the year to determine eligibility, provide immediate crisis support and access to a wide array of community services. Youth seeking services have immediate access to basic needs and safe shelter off the streets. Screenings can be accommodated 365 days of the year between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm by calling the Access Center to set up a time. Youth younger than 17 may be referred to Harry’s Mother to determine if their needs can be better met through services specifically designed for minors. Give us a call!

Porch Light Shelter

 

Since 1998, Porch Light has provided a safe and comfortable youth-friendly shelter for people 16-24 who are experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. Services include nourishing meals, socially distanced beds, showers and basic hygiene amenities for youth who are ready to work toward long-term solutions to their homelessness. All services are LGBTQ affirmative. Porch Light is open every night of year from 8:45 pm until 8:45 am. Call first to confirm bed availability.

Street Light Shelter

 

Since 1992, Street Light has provided safe and comfortable youth-friendly shelter every night of the year for people 16-24 who are experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. “Reservations” at the shelter for up to four months include a bed and locker while our guests work with their Homeless Youth Continuum team to resolve issues related to homelessness and achieve goals toward independence. All services are LGBTQ affirmative. Street Light is open every night of the year from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am by reservation only. Please call the Access Center for more information.

Bridge House

 

Established in 1986, Bridge House is one of the nation’s original seven federal Transitional Living Programs. Bridge House provides a safe, supportive, 24/7 supervised home environment for seven youth ages 16 to 22 who are experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. Bridge House also serves pregnant or parenting youth with children under the age of two. Incorporating resident participation in all program decision-making, Bridge House empowers youth to support themselves and work toward fulfilling their educational and employment needs toward independence.

Changes

 

Changes is our independent housing program for youth ages 16 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness in Multnomah County. Changes provides basic financial assistance for initial community housing move-in costs such as a security deposit, application fee and cleaning fee and case management support for youth who are ready to live on their own.
